POSITION SUMMARY
An employee in this class is responsible for supervising the clean conditions of the wards, room, and corridors in accordance with department standards rules and regulations.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Assigns and supervises the work of a number of employees engaged in janitorial and other cleaning duties.
Insures that wards, rooms and corridors are maintained in clean and sanitary conditions.
Insurers that all waste is disposed in accordance to local and federal guidelines.
Orientates new employees in the duties to be performed.
Insurers that all MSDS are updated and employees are trained on its use.
Coordinates repair and remodeling projects with maintenance department.
Addresses departmental housekeeping needs during a 24-hour period.
Tours and inspects project areas for quality of work performed and adherence to established policies and procedures.
Directs maintenance and care of equipment and supplies used in projects.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
Attends meetings as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of the twelfth grade
Minimum of two years of experience in housekeeping. Supervisory experience a plus

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Knowledge of the policies, procedures, rules and regulations that apply to the practice of Hospital Housekeeping Supervisor in an inpatient care setting.
Knowledge of material, equipment and methods commonly used in cleaning and other janitorial work.
Ability to give simple oral and written direction.
Ability to work long hours while walking to monitor staff performance.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all persons contacted within the course of the work.
Ability to write reports, make assignments, and schedule staff to work.
Ability to educate staff on the Policies and Procedures of the hospital and the Environmental Services Department..
Ability to gain the confidence and respect of the public to be served.
Ability to work well independently
Organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills are essential.
Ability to work in a highly visible position undergoing significant changes with multiple constituents, each with demands exceeding resources.
Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work in a climate-controlled and well-lighted environment with a smoke-free policy. Employee will work in an office and throughout the building daily. Has Category 1 risk of exposure to infectious diseases, but receives training in hand hygiene practices, Universal Precautions and has access to personal protective equipment if direct exposure is anticipated; is subject to interruptions and noise daily.
