BARGAINING UNIT: SEAFARERS INTERNATIONAL UNION (SIU)

SALARY: $27,040.00

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

1.       Cleans cafeteria in preparation for opening.

2.       Lifts and rotates stock (up to 50 lbs.) via “First-in-First—out” (FIFO) method in all kitchen areas including freezers and refrigerators.

3.       Delivers patient’s breakfast, lunch and dinner carts to floors.

4.       Assembles starts and deep cleans dish machine after every meal period.

5.       Changes all three compartments water every two hours.

6.       Resets pot sink every two hours.

7.       Cleans grill after every use.

8.       Changes oil in cook’s café area.

9.       Cleans ovens in baking and cooking areas.

10.    Cleans walls behind the tilt skillet and mixers.

11.    Sweeps and mops tray line.

12.    Washes patient’s breakfast, lunch and dinner trays and pots utilized during all shifts.

13.    Monitors and empties garbage in department.

14.    Mops and sweeps department before shift end.

15.    Cleans and organizes janitor closets

16.    Cleans employee break room.

17.    Power washes department’s floors.

18.    Assists retail in setting up (taking down chairs, bringing out clean black safety mats, and filling various food stations with ice).

19.    Follows food safety guidelines for personal hygiene and practices safe hand washing.

20.    Cleans and sanitizes dishes, equipment’s, and work areas immediately after use.

21.    Complies with all Federal, Local, and CMS regulations and policies to include all food safety program (HACCP) guidelines; meets food handling standards; covers, label, and dates food; record food, refrigerator, freezer, dry storage temperature appropriately.

22.    Promote a safe working environment; does not pose a safety risk to self or others.

23.    Utilizes resources, supplies, and time effectively and efficiently.

24.    Participates in training, in-service, and learning opportunities.

25.    Adheres to JFL hospital approved dress code- uniform, gloves, and hairnet. etc.

26.    Follows all Human Resources procedures and personnel requirements as outlined in the JFL Hospital Administrative Rules, JFL Nutrition Services Policies and Procedures Manual.

27.    Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.

28.    Performs other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1.       High School diploma

2.       Must be able to follow directions

3.       VI Food Handlers Card

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

1.       Knowledge of the policies, procedures, rules and regulations that apply to the practice of Kitchen Attendant in an inpatient care setting.

2.       Knowledge of analytical and grammatical skills necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

3.       Ability to work with a wide variety of other professionals and staff engaged in the delivery of health care services.

4.       Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality.

5.       Ability to gain the confidence and respect of the public to be served.

6.       Organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills are essential.

7.       Ability to work in a highly visible position undergoing significant changes with multiple constituents, each with demands exceeding resources.

8.       Ability to work independently, as part of a team.
