BARGAINING UNIT: SEAFARERS INTERNATIONAL UNION (SIU)

SALARY: $27,859

POSITION SUMMARY

Under direction, performs a variety of shipping/receiving, stocking activities; stores and distributes supplies and equipment; maintains inventory and stock records; may serve as a lead worker to other classified staff in the area; and perform related work as required.

The Storekeeper is responsible for all warehouse operations activities including shipping and receiving, deliveries, coordinating stock, documenting warehouse transactions, maintaining records, and overseeing storage of surplus inventory and property for the District.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

1.     Receives and inspects all incoming materials and reconciles with purchase orders; processes and

distributes documentation with purchase orders; reports, documents and tracks damages and

discrepancies on orders received.

2.   Makes intra- and inter-campus deliveries of requested surplus office furniture and merchandise;

maintains records of all deliveries.

3.        Fills supply requisitions; assists buyer to order adequate merchandise and supplies; delivers orders to faculty and staff.

4.        Receives and stores documents and confidential files; maintains record of approved document and

confidential file destruction.

6.   Ships canceled and damaged items back to vendors as appropriate.

7.   Data entry, tracking & delivering supplies and equipment to patient care areas efficiently, accurately, and punctually, if required, ultimately returning them for reprocessing disposal.

8.   Maintaining adequate supply levels in all units & Omnicell machines as required.

9.   Handling supplies and equipment to ensure sterility and infection control

10.     Handles and documents storage and transportation of hazardous materials.

11.   Maintains the warehouse, records area and stores area in a neat and orderly manner.

12.   Answers questions regarding procedures and resolves discrepancies regarding receipts, deliveries,

warranties, repairs and surplus property.

13.   Trains and directs the work of student assistants.

14.   Assist patient care staff with identification of supply needs and available alternatives, when requested.

15.   Obtaining random (STAT) emergency or unusual supplies with the other materials management personnel.

16.   May serve as a lead worker to other classified staff in the area.

17.   Performs other work related duties as requested.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1.       Must have a high School diploma or equivalent.

2.       Current VI Food Handlers Card

3.       A minimum of two years of general experience in storekeeper.

4.      High effective written, verbal and presentation communication skills.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

1.       Knowledge of the policies, procedures, rules and regulations that apply to the practice of storekeeper II in an inpatient care setting.

2.       Provide Departmental leadership, training/delegation of training of new employees and ongoing education and training of all departmental staff.

3.       Knowledge of analytical and grammatical skills necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

4.       Skilled in maintaining records and preparing reports.

5.       Familiarity with spreadsheet and overall computer skills.

6.       Ability to work with a wide variety of other professionals and staff engaged in the delivery of health care services.

7.       Ability to gain the confidence and respect of the public to be served.

8.       Ability to work well independently including without administrative support when required.

9.       Organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills are essential.

10.   Ability to work in a highly visible position undergoing significant changes with multiple constituents, each with demands exceeding resources.

11.   Ability to work independently, as part of a team and be available.

12.   Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality.
