ST. CROIX, August 15, 2024 – In preparation for Tropical Storm Ernesto, JFL activated its internal Incident Command Team to support ongoing operations and coordinate emergency response. The team worked tirelessly to roll out JFL’s Hurricane Preparedness Plan and remained on the ground during the storm.

JFL is pleased to report that hospital and emergency operations remained stable throughout the storm with no service disruption. All outpatient services: including laboratory, diagnostic imaging, and cardiac services, as well as the Cashiers and Billing departments, have returned to normal operations.

We sincerely thank the #JFLStrong Staff for their unwavering dedication and resilience during Tropical Storm Ernesto. In a statement to the staff, ICEO Hazel Philbert stated, “Your hard work and unwavering commitment have been nothing short of inspiring and ensured that JFL could continue to serve the community during this challenging time.”

The Incident Command Team and Department Leaders displayed exceptional leadership in ensuring preparedness in each area. Philbert emphasized the vital contribution of each department to JFL’s operations and expressed gratitude for their impact.

JFL extends gratitude to JFL’s Board of Directors, Governor Albert Bryan, Jr., VI Legislature, Director Daryl Jaschen and VITEMA, Commissioner Justa Encarnacion and the VI Department of Health, Executive Director Daryl Smalls and the Territorial Hospital Redevelopment Team, and all vendors involved in JFL’s preparedness and response efforts. Finally, we thank the community for its continuous support and confidence in JFL.

As we are still in the midst of hurricane season, we urge everyone to maintain and enhance their personal hurricane preparedness plans.
