FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – The Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital & Medical Center (JFL) is pleased to announce the official opening of the Administration Building, which serves as the main entrance to JFL Hospital (JFL-North), marking a significant milestone in enhancing patient, family, and visitor access. This long-awaited improvement ensures a more streamlined, secure, and welcoming experience for all who enter.
Effective Wednesday, April 2, 2025, all visitors will be required to use the Administration Building entrance, with several important changes taking effect:
- The interim entrance on the north side of JFL-North will be permanently closed to the public.
- All visitors must enter through the Administration Building entrance for facility access.
- Enhanced safety features include improved directional signage, and a comfortable lobby to accommodate families.
The Administration Building is strategically positioned between two key landmarks of the JFL campus, making it easier for patients and visitors to navigate the facility:
- North of the Virgin Islands Cardiac Center, providing direct access to specialty outpatient services.
- South of the JFL-North Emergency Entrance, ensuring a streamlined route for urgent medical needs.
Outpatient Services at the Old JFL Building
While the Administration Building improves overall access, certain outpatient services remain at the old JFL Building. Patients utilizing these services should continue to enter through the old JFL Building:
- Radiology and Laboratory Services
- Registration, Cashiers, and Scheduling
- Billing Office and Medical Records
Updated Visitation Guidelines for Patient Safety
To ensure a safe and healing environment, JFL will continue enforcing the following visitation policies:
- Visiting Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. daily.
- Visitor Limit: One (1) visitor per patient to maintain privacy and minimize disruptions to care.
- Check-In Requirement: All visitors must sign in at reception and present valid identification upon entry.
JFL extends its sincere gratitude to the Territorial Hospital Redevelopment Team (THRT) for their dedication and leadership in overseeing the construction and completion of the Administration Building. Their ongoing efforts in revitalizing healthcare facilities across the territory have been instrumental in modernizing infrastructure that will benefit the community for years to come.
The opening of JFL’s Administration Building is part of the hospital’s broader mission to enhance patient care, improve accessibility, and create a more welcoming environment. These improvements ensure a more efficient flow of movement within the hospital while prioritizing safety and convenience for patients, visitors, and staff alike.
