FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands (September 18, 2026) – Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital & Medical Center (JFL) today announced the successful renewal of its laboratory’s Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) certification. The Certificate of Accreditation affirms that JFL’s diagnostic laboratory continues to meet rigorous federal standards for quality, accuracy, and patient safety.
As an essential hub for emergency care, inpatient monitoring, and outpatient diagnostics, JFL’s laboratory plays a critical role in the hospital’s daily medical operations. The renewed certification underscores the laboratory’s ability to deliver accurate and timely test results that physicians and other healthcare professionals rely on to make critical patient-care decisions.
“Our laboratory team works behind the scenes 24/7 to provide the precise data our doctors and nurses need to save lives and manage patient care,” said Adeline Williams-Connor, Chief Operating Officer. “Successfully renewing our CLIA certification reflects our laboratory staff’s exceptional clinical expertise and unwavering dedication to patient safety and quality excellence.”
The CLIA program, overseen by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), establishes federal quality standards for laboratory testing performed on human specimens for health assessment or the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease. As part of the accreditation process, laboratories must meet applicable federal requirements in areas including personnel qualifications, quality control, equipment, and testing procedures.
With the renewal of its CLIA certification, JFL continues its mission to provide compassionate, high-quality, and equitable healthcare by placing people at the center of all we do.
