POSITION SUMMARY
This individual is under the general supervision of Registered Nurses and provides professional nursing care for the assigned patients.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
1.      Provides simple dressings under supervision of licensed nurses.
2.      Responsible for the removal of Foley catheters as instructed.
3.      Assist with performing EKG and removal of intravenous Fluid as instructed.
4.      Responsible for performing vital signs including, blood pressure, height, weight, intake and output in a timely and accurate manner.
5.      Responsible for preparing patients meals including tube feeding. Feeds and encourages patients as required.
6.      Responsible for preparing patients for fetal monitoring.
7.      Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.
8.      Performs other duties as directed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.      High school or equivalent.
2.      Possession and maintains certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
3.      Current C N A Licensure
4.      Current BLS Certification.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
1.      Knowledge of Nursing Philosophy, objectives, and goals of the department.
2.      Ability to follow oral and written directions.
3.      Ability to relate with tact and understand to deal with parents, doctors, staff and all other persons contacted during the course of work.
4.      Ability to employ sound judgment in the planning and execution of assigned duties.
5.      Knowledge of the policies, procedures, rules and regulations that apply to the practice of in an inpatient care setting.
6.      Knowledge of hospital/departmental policies and procedures, emergency protocols, Joint Commission, Center for Medicare and Medicaid services and all other local and federal regulatory standards
7.      Ability to make presentations before management, public groups, and staff.
8.      Knowledge of analytical and grammatical skills necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
9.      Familiarity with spreadsheet and overall computer skills.
10.   Ability to work with a wide variety of other professionals and staff engaged in the delivery of health care services.
11.   Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality.
12.   Ability to gain the confidence and respect of the public to be served.
13.   Ability to work well independently including without administrative support when required.
14.   Organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills are essential.
15.   Ability to work in a highly visible position undergoing significant changes with multiple constituents, each with demands exceeding resources.
16.   Ability to work independently, as part of a team and be available.
17.   Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality.
18.   Ability to display time management skills.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work in a climate-controlled and well-lighted environment with a smoke-free policy. Employee will work in an office and throughout the building daily. Has Category 1 risk of exposure to infectious diseases, but receives training in hand hygiene practices, Universal Precautions and has access to personal protective equipment if direct exposure is anticipated; is subject to interruptions and noise daily.
